Bill Kennedy

Bill is the CEO and President of Hyper9. A technology entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in software, Bill has been a founder of 3 successful software companies and currently sits on the Board of Directors and the Board of Advisors for several privately held software companies, including Bomgar Inc., SailPoint Inc., and Zenoss Inc. A mathematician by training, Bill has managed software engineering teams, managed operations for early stage start-up companies, and consulted with large federal agencies in the area of digital security. Bill's career began with IBM Tivoli, where he was Director of Engineering for Security Products. In January 2000, Bill co-founded Waveset Technologies, directing R&D and engineering for the pioneering Identity Management company, which was acquired by Sun Microsystems in late 2003. Following the Sun acquisition, Bill served as Vice President of Identity Products for Sun, directing the work of cross-functional teams on 3 continents. Bill has a Masters degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Texas at Austin.


Mike J. Maples, Sr.

Mike held various management positions at Microsoft Corporation from April 1988 to July 1995, including Executive Vice President of the Worldwide Products Group. As a member of the Office of the President at Microsoft, Mike reported directly to the Chairman. Previously, he served as Director of Software Strategy for International Business Machines Corp. Mike also currently serves on the boards of Motive, Inc., a service management software company, Lexmark International, Inc., a laser and inkjet printer company, and Sonic Corp., an operator and franchiser of drive-in restaurants. He is currently a member of the Board of Visitors of the Engineering School at the University of Oklahoma and the College of Engineering Foundation Advisory Council at the University of Texas at Austin. Mike received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University.


Stan Reiss

Stan Reiss has been a General Partner with Matrix Partner since July of 2000. Prior to Matrix, Stan was a manager in McKinsey & Company’s electronics practice, where he led teams that advised technology companies on strategy and operational issues. He also brings to Matrix and its portfolio companies experience that he gained designing chips with National Semiconductor’s Local Area Network Group. Stan holds a BSEE with distinction from Cornell University as well as SMEE and SMOR degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his research focused on optical communication networks. He also holds an M.B.A. with high distinction (Baker Scholar) from the Harvard Business School. Stan serves on the boards of Hyper9, Buzzwire, Carbon Design Systems, Intelliden, NoblePeak Vision, and Xtalic.


Ray Rothrock

Ray is a partner at Venrock, where he focuses on energy, material sciences and security companies. He currently serves on the boards of Aria Systems, Check Point Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP), CoreTrace, Imperva, PGP Corporation, RedSeal Systems and Transonic Combustion. Previously, he served on the boards of Digex, DoubleClick, Haystack Labs, P-Cube, Pedestal Software, QPass, Spyglass, USInternetworking Vontu, and Whole Security. In addition to venture capital, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Texas A&M Foundation, where he chairs the investment committee and on the board of NVCA, the National Venture Capital Association. Ray also serves on the Visiting Committee of the MIT Nuclear Science and Engineering Department. Mr. Rothrock has a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University, an S.M. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. with Distinction from the Harvard Business School.


Mike Turner

Mike has more than 20 years of experience in building and growing successful companies. Most recently, he was the founder and CEO of Waveset Technologies, an identity management software company acquired by Sun Microsystems in 2003. At Waveset, Mike received the Austin Under 40 Award for technology and business innovation and was a finalist for Price Waterhouse Cooper’s Entrepreneur of the Year award. Prior to Waveset, Mike served as entrepreneur-in-residence at Austin Ventures. Mike joined Austin Ventures from Tivoli Systems Inc., where he served as vice president and general manager of its $1.2 billion dollar enterprise business unit. In 1996, he spearheaded the company’s entry into the enterprise security space, resulting in revenue growth from $0 to $200 million dollars in just two years. Mike holds a BSCS from the University of Texas.


Bill Wood

Bill Wood is the founder of Silverton Partners, an early stage venture capital firm based in Austin, Texas. Prior to Silverton Partners, Bill was a founding general partner of Austin Ventures. Bill has been a venture investor in the enterprise software industry for more than 20 years. Bill’s software investments include Hyper9, SailPoint, Motive, Smart Technologies, Tivoli Systems and Waveset. All of these companies are still in existence or have exited through acquisition or public offering.
