Bill Kennedy|CEO & President
Bill is the CEO and President of Hyper9. A technology entrepreneur with over 25 years
of experience in software, Bill has been a founder of 3 successful software companies
and currently sits on the Board of Directors and the Board of Advisors for several
privately held software companies, including Bomgar Inc., SailPoint Inc., and Zenoss
Inc. A mathematician by training, Bill has managed software engineering teams, managed
operations for early stage start-up companies, and consulted with large federal agencies
in the area of digital security. Bill's career began with IBM Tivoli, where he was
Director of Engineering for Security Products. In January 2000, Bill co-founded Waveset
Technologies, directing R&D and engineering for the pioneering Identity Management company,
which was acquired by Sun Microsystems in late 2003. Following the Sun acquisition, Bill
served as Vice President of Identity Products for Sun, directing the work of cross-functional
teams on 3 continents. Bill has a Masters degree in Mathematics and Physics from the
University of Texas at Austin.
Michael Nels|VP of Research and Development
Michael is the VP of Research and Development at Hyper9 and brings nearly 15 years of experience in enterprise software innovation and development. Michael has produced enterprise products for a numerous companies, both large and small. A computer scientist by training, Michael has conceptualized, designed, implemented, and delivered to market over 20 products as an executive manager of product development, research, QA, support, and operations. Michael’s career began with Trilogy / pcOrder, where he created and customized online order processing, commission management, and configuration management of enterprise data centers. In 1999, Michael co-founded AGEA. As CTO, he directed R&D, engineering and QA for the revolutionary technology of mobile alerting for mission-critical business events. After AGEA was acquired in 2003, he joined Motive as Director of Enterprise Products and focused on creating application management software and solutions for major corporations including AT&T, BEA, and IBM. After Motive, Michael served as General Manager of Open Products at AlterPoint for the open source ZipTie Network Management product line. Michael has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Princeton University.
Jonathan Reeve|VP of Product Strategy
Jonathan Reeve has built a career integrating hands-on technical development with senior-level strategic management. As vice president of product management for Hyper9, Jonathan is responsible for the company’s flagship product, Virtual Environment Optimization suite. Jonathan’s experience spans computer networking, systems management and virtualization technologies, helping numerous start-ups and established companies generate market traction. Prior to joining Hyper9, Jonathan drove product management for the network management product line at Smarts, which was acquired by EMC in 2005. Jonathan has a degree in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Computer Networking from the University of Durham (UK).
Greg Barone|VP of Worldwide Sales
Greg is the Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Hyper9, responsible for the company's direct and channel sales. He brings 18 years of experience in sales and sales management for technology companies, ranging from startups to multi-billion dollar corporations. For more than ten years, Greg has focused on new software solutions, successfully introducing disruptive technologies to the enterprise market and driving strong sales growth for early-stage companies. Previously, Greg served as VP of Sales at Cognio, ultimately acquired by Cisco Systems. He joined the venture-backed startup in its infancy and drove the company's sales and channel activities from zero to 70% market share and a worldwide presence in less than three years. Greg has also led impressive sales growth at startup software companies Reaction Design and Syntricity. He has held sales management positions for Fluke Networks, Samsung and Advanced Micro Devices. Greg holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the University of Southern California.
Chris Ostertag|VP of Business Development and Sales
Chris is a founder and VP of Business Development and Sales at Hyper9, and has more than 25 years of industry experience
in successfully delivering innovative and enterprise-class technologies to market.
Most recently, he served as VP of Worldwide Sales and field operations for Credant.
Prior to Credant, Chris led Sun's worldwide team of more than 4,500 technical sales
experts. Chris joined Sun through its acquisition of Waveset Technologies, where
he was the SVP of Worldwide Sales. Prior to Waveset, Chris was at Tivoli, where
he grew sales from $3 million to more than $2 billion in less than five years. He
has also held various sales management and leadership positions with Bowstreet,
Parc Place Systems, Servio Logic Corporation, Oracle, and Informix. Chris holds
a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland.
Zahid Ghauri|Director of Technical Sales
With more than 15 years in enterprise software sales and a history of exceeding sales goals, Zahid is well qualified to lead Hyper9’s technical sales organization and drive aggressive revenue growth. As one of it’s first employees, Zahid was fundamental in setting Hyper9’s vision and product direction. More recently, Zahid is executing that vision and driving market share to create a world class virtualization management company. Zahid came to Hyper9 from Sun Microsystems where he was the Manager of Global Technical Enablement, supporting Identity Management sales worldwide. Prior to Sun, Zahid was a Director of Systems Engineering at SupportSoft, the market leader in support automation software, where he was responsible for technical sales for the Eastern United States and EMEA. Before joining SupportSoft, Zahid worked extensively in the Enterprise Systems Management space as a Principal Systems Engineer for Tivoli Systems, the multi-billion dollar management software division of IBM, and Focal Point Software, a solutions provider for BMC Software’s Performance Assurance products. Zahid earned a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston and his bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
David Marshall|Director of Marketing, Social Media Strategist
David is the director of technical marketing and social media strategist at Hyper9, focusing on product marketing, social media and community development. He is an industry recognized virtualization expert and a two-time recipient of the VMware vExpert distinction. He has been in the industry for more than 15 years and has been working with virtualization and management software for the past 11 years. Prior to starting Hyper9, David was a Senior Architect at Surgient and a Deployment Manager at ProTier where he helped invent the core technologies used at both companies, and was responsible for creating and implementing a number of complex virtualization solutions for a number of Fortune 1000 clients. Before joining ProTier, he enjoyed a very successful 7-year career working in and managing a number of departments within BankOne. David is an author of two popular virtualization books, writes for InfoWorld magazine, and is the author of numerous technical articles for a number of well known publications. He is also the founder of one of the oldest operating virtualization news sites, VMblog.com. David graduated with a bachelor's degree in Finance and an Information Technology Certification from the University of New Orleans.
Anthony Mariotti|CFO
Anthony is the CFO of Hyper9. He has extensive experience in accounting, corporate finance, and M&A transactions. Anthony is also a co-founder and Principal of the financial services firm ProActive Finance Group. Anthony has held various financial and operations positions with growth-oriented companies including Skipstone (CFO/COO), Savantage (VP-Finance), Pavilion Technologies (CFO), GTESS (CFO) and Theatre Acquisitions, Ltd (CFO). These companies were from the software, electronics, service and theatre industries. He previously was a CPA with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst and Young. Anthony has served on various Boards of Directors of both publicly held and privately owned corporations, including DTM Corporation, a publicly traded manufacturer of rapid prototyping systems, where he was responsible for overseeing various strategic matters and the eventual sale of the Company. Anthony received his MBA and BBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA) designation from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA).
